Can this phone be tracked?

Recently came upon a Motorola Atrix in a bar I was at and picked it up. The next day I noticed there was a password set and decided to restore the entire phone and rebooted it to factory settings using the FASTBOOT menu. Now the phone is like it was when it came out of the box with a SIM card needing to be installed (I TOOK THE OLD SIM CARD OUT AND BROKE IT IN HALF). Can this phone be tracked in any way by the original owner?
